To celebrate Children’s Week 2015 our service created “Caring for Country Day”. Many of our educators across the mountains shared a gardening experience with their children and families by planting some bush tucker plants in their garden.

Claire Cable from Familia Family Day Care Blaxland and her team of little green thumbs learned all about the traditional uses of these plants as they planted the bush tucker in Claire’s front garden. The children were very proud of their work and what they had learned!

Blue Mountains Family Day care is a service that has been rated EXCEEDING under the National Quality Standards.

All childcare services across the country are rated under a National Quality Framework which aims to provide better educational and developmental outcomes for children using education and care services. The seven quality areas that are assessed to determine a service’s rating include:

 1) Educational program and practice

 2) Children’s health and safety

 3) Physical environment

 4) Staffing arrangements

 5) Relationships with children

 6) Collaborative partnerships with families and communities

 7) Leadership and service management

As a service we continue to work towards achieving these results for the children and families in our community. To learn more about the National Quality Framework you can visit
